The benefits of joining a Riding Club are wide, and growing each year. Hawley is now running more training clinics and competitions than ever, all incredibly cheap to our members. Membership is just £25 (January to January), with various discounts available.

Joining Hawley

To join, simply download and fill out the above form, and post it to the address on the form with payment - any difficulties email us on hawleyridingclub@hotmail.co.uk

Your membership entitles you to:

Insurance at Riding Club events/clinics/showsSubscription to Rider MagazineEligibility to enter Riding Club team competitions - see Team pageEntry to Hawley Riding Club training clinics - most costing just £15Invitation to free Hawley events such as Fun Days/Rides/SocialsCheap entry to Hawley shows - Mini-Hickstead in May is half-price to members!

Once Bonnie (Siobhan Coultrip), the membership secretary, receives your form and money, she registers you with British Riding Clubs (BRC) and will issue a membership card. This can take a couple of weeks but you will straight away be able to take part in clinics/socials. For teams you need to be on the list at BRC Headquarters 21 days before the competition, so make sure you join in time!

Most importantly, you will start to receive Riding Club emails and mailings. You should get your first email with a week or so of sending off your form. If you do not, it means we either have your email address wrong or have missed you off the distribution list - MAKE SURE YOU CALL US to chase this (See Contact page). Without these emails you will not get up-to-date news about the Club. If you do not use email, make sure you let us know on your membership form, but we strongly recommend using the web at the minimum to find out about clinics and team competitions.

2009-10 rates:

Full Adult: £25

Full Junior: £22

Horse-share: £20 each

Non-riding: £17

The RC year runs Jan-Jan, dictated by BRC headquarters not us. We cannot give partial year memberships as our insurance cost remains the same, but if joining very late in the year please contact us for a possible discount.

What does your membership pay for?

This is a question we are often being asked, and this year we intend to make the answer obvious! The Hawley Riding Club committee is made up of 10 volunteers and each year we discuss ways to give value back to our members. So this year you can expect some of the following subsidies, freebies and activities:

Over half your team entry fees paid when you represent Hawley in Area competitions

Last year we spent well over £1000 on team entries. We had a high attrition rate a couple of years ago with people dropping out of teams last minute and leaving the Club out of pocket, but as soon as we get the finances back on track we will be refunding full entry fees for those members who honour their commitments to compete for the Club.

Free Fun Days and Fun Rides

This is a new activity for the club with a very successful first Fun Day at Farley Estate on 21st March. Over thirty members turned up for a day of hacking, jumping, dressage and team-chase-style jumping across Farley Estate, not to mention food! All paid for out of membership subs and club funds.

Subsidised clinics/trainers

The Club has paid for venue hire for some of our new one-off clinics such as Richard Waygood, to enable members to have lessons with some elite trainers at a reasonable price. We will continue this and offer some free/subsidised training throughout the year.

Any ideas...

Due to a membership drive and renewed vigour in the Club this year, we expect to have some funds left over at the end of the year. If you have any suggestions/ideas for how to spend it, get in touch!!
